Make Academy Park a family tradition!
If you and your family love to do outdoor activities
together, Academy Park is the perfect spot for you! Academy Park connects the East and West Side
of Big Walnut Creek. The East side of
the park includes a large playground for the kiddos, multiple baseball fields
for all ages, a refreshment stand including public restroom facilities that
stay open all year round, and a loop around the entire park that equals out to
be about a half mile. For the runner /
walker / bike rider of the family, this loop is a great way to calculate your
mileage! There are trails extending off
of this loop as well. If you take the
trail at the South side of the park back through the woods, you will be charmed
by the serenity of the beautiful mature trees, the bridges over creeks and
rivers, and the neighborly people out to take their dogs for a stroll or to
ride a bike through the woods.
As you walk through the woods and once you cross the river,
you may notice the smell of cooking hot dogs.
That is because you will be coming up on another picnic shelter. The other half of this amazing park is on the
other side! You will notice a beautiful,
well-kept pond, a few mallards swimming in the water, and maybe a fisherman or
two (make sure to ask them what they are catching). The West side of Academy Park also
has it’s own restroom facilities year-round, a playground, a baseball diamond,
and a basketball court for you to brush up on your layups.
To get to Academy Park from the Morse Road and
Cherrybottom Road intersection you may
travel South on Cherrybottom. The
entrance to the park will be on your right, not even a mile down the road!
Spend a day on the green!
After a busy day of business meetings and fast talk at the Creekside Conference and Event Center, it's time for some rest and relaxation. The Gahanna Golf Course is only right down the street from Creekside and it will be open until dusk 7 days a week. Enjoy an outing with your business partners or your friends and swing out a few rounds.
